I have an ongoing debate with friends that in the Rocky films Adriane (Rocky's wife) died. Did she or did'nt she?

She was alive in Rocky 5 but because the actress retired, or did not want to be in Balboa, her character is said to have died between the films of Cancer.

she's dead by the time of the new movie but didn't actually die on screen like rocky did

the original script was to kill her by accident in an argument, but later they changed it.
