It means that your foot has gone numb. This is caused by poor circulation due to an obstruction, e.g. when you sit in a way that puts your foot in an awkward position that obstructs the flow of blood for a period of time. When the blood supply to the nerves are cut off, the nerves don't work as well, which leads to the feeling of numbness.

While a pinched nerve can also explain numbness, the term "going to sleep" is usually used for circulation-related numbness.

i remember my biology teacher talking about it--its actually when
you apply this pressure for a prolonged period of time, you actually cut off communication from your brain to parts of your body. The pressure squeezes nerve pathways so that the nerves can't transmit electrochemical impulses properly. Nerve impulses carry sensation information from nerve endings in the body to the brain, as well as instructions from the brain to the parts of the body. When you interfere with this transfer by squeezing the nerve pathways, you don't have full feeling in that body part, and your brain has trouble telling the body part what to do.
This pressure can also squeeze arteries, stopping them from carrying nutrients to body cells. Without these nutrients, the nerve cells may behave abnormally, which can further interfere with communicating bodily sensations.

:) hope it helped :)

It's a slight insult to your peripheral nerves. Some type of pressure from the angle your leg is caused an abnormal pressure or "kink" on the nerve which needs to reestablish its contact beyond the "kink" This is why you feel the pins and needles, because you are getting pain and temperature communication restored to that area.

There is no clear answers. A dog sleeping on the bed with you is fine for most dogs and most people. Dog trainers and behaviorist will sometimes recommend that this practice be avoided if there are certain behavioral problems like guarding happening with the dog.

It usually means that you have either pinched a nerve or poor circulation. Most of the time it has to deal with circulation.
