I imagine that humans have sought shelter from the elements throughout human history. I also imagine that humans began constructing permanent housing when the first humans began tending crops and herding animals instead of living as hinter gatherers. There is a lot of information available on the internet. A Yahoo search for "history of housing" (include the quotation marks in the Yahoo search box) yields 22,700 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find lots of useful and interesting information.

Good luck with your search.
