you gave it too much water. Do you have a hole at the bottom of the pot where the excess water can drain? If not then you need to drill one there or use a pot with a hole at the bottom. I would just go ahead and replant it using fresh soil. If you use a good quality soil you won't have to water as much. Your plant will tell you when it is thirsty by leaves drooping. But try to water before then. Good luck.

You are watering too much and/or too often. Chill out on the watering and the mold prob should go away.

Till the soil around the top of the plan also. Go down an inch with the tiller (fork, pencil, etc.)

It's from a combination of too much moisture and not enough light.

Let it dry out and give it some sunlight. If it's a plant that doesn't like sunlight, tie up the branches so the sunlight gets on the soil and not necessarily the plant.

You've watered it too much. Let it dry out and the mold will go away, then try not watering it so much
