All i can say is take prenatal pills and take folic acid. I have a beautiful 6yr old daughter with spina bifida. When i was pregnant with her i took folic acid and prenatal vitamins. Just from all the info i know is that it does run in familys.

I don't think so but it would probably up the chances. They also say that to decrease this condition than that's where vitamin C comes in. Start on prenatal pills before you start trying because it will increase your vitamin C which will decrease the chance of spina bifida. Also let your OB know so that they can keep an eye out.

It may be genetic. Beofer oyu get pergnant talk to an OB and do research on the net, you may need to take extra folic acid, which decreases the chance of Spina Bifida. Prenantal vitamins should work. Talk to your Doctor to see some ways to counter it. Good Luck.
