The best thing I can tell you to take is button down shirts and pads... If you plan on breast feeding, button down shirts are the best! Make sure you have lots of blankets. Not sure what the weather is there, but here, we just had a blizzard. A cute outfit for the leaving the hospital picture. Make sure you have a camera packed and ready to go. Of course the car seat, and make sure you know how to use it before you go to the hospital. A journal is nice to record all of the feelings you are having at the hospital. I hope this list helps a little bit!!! Good Luck and Congrats!

A robe! The ones at the hospital are thin and ugly; having something of your own is nice. Your pillow is also a nice thing to have if you have to stay for a few nights. You will want something loose to wear home, probably sweats. For the baby, I suggest 2-3 outfits in different sizes(leave the tags until you know which size your baby will wear). Newborn clothes were way too big on my baby, but it was all I had brought, so he looked a little silly. Most hospitals also require to see your car seat before they release the baby for you to take home. Good luck!

The hospital should provide you with diapers, wipes, and formula if you're not breastfeeding...You might want to take a sock, filled with uncooked rice, because that helps if you have back pain..A outfit or two for baby, a pacifier if you're going to use one..A nightgown for you, some slippers, tooth brush, toothpaste, a magazine, some cards, I know I played cards when I was in HARD labor, and they gave me a shot of morphine..a hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, cell phone if you have one to call everyone when the baby is born, car seat, a blanket for the baby, a good bra and some nursing pads, a book, anything that you will think will make you more comfortable..

I used the following guide;-
For labour:
Your birth plan
Dressing gown
Slippers
Socks
An old nightdress to wear in labour
Massage oils or lotions
Hair band
Lip moisturiser
Snacks and drinks
Watch with a second hand to time contractions
Camera and film/tape
Relaxation materials: books, magazines, games, music, candles
Pictures of someone or something you love (the inspiration you may need to see you through to the end)
Tens pain relief machine if you are planning to use one
Toiletries
For your birth partner:
Change of clothes
Snacks
After the birth:
Going-home outfit
Breastfeeding bras
Breast pads
Sanitary towels
Nightgown
Toiletries
Address book, plus lots of change or a prepaid phone card for all the calls you may want to make. You may find you cannot use your mobile phone in the hospital building
For baby:
Infant car seat
One outfit for the trip home (all-in-one stretchy outfits are easiest)
Baby blanket (a warm one if weather is cold)
Nappies
One pair of socks or booties
Hat
Jacket or snowsuit for winter
a few babygros and bodysuits
coming home outfit
You'll probably find this is way too much, I know I did. I was very glad I packed food though, otherwise I'd have had a long wait when my appetite returned! I wish I had packed a good book for those long hours (make the most of it) when my daughter was asleep and it was out of visiting hours.
I hope everything goes well for you, enjoy your little bundle when s/he arrives!

Well, your bag should consist of some of these items....
1. Fitting underware.(the hospital gives you some but they suck!)
2.Pajamas
3.Toiletries(bath soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb and brush.)
4. I took a comforting cd to listen to while I labored.
5. A long pillow (works great while you are in labor)
6. Nice thick pair of socks and slippers(hospitals are cold)
And baby...
1. A few pairs of t-shirts.
2. An outfit to wear home
3. Outfit to take hospital pics in.
4.Socks
(they will supply you with diapers)
5. And if you have a certain blanket for baby, that would be useful too.
Good Luck!!

I brought: A pair of underwear (after giving birth you will have to wear the hospital ones because of bleeding.)
A nursing bra
Comfy clothes to go home in.
Toothbrush
Hair brush
Deoderant
Lotion (nice to get a foot, leg or back rub during labor)
Books to read
Baby announcements to fill out (you are going to have plenty of free time in the hospital)
Calling Card
Cell Phone
Laptop
Socks
my own pillow
my own throw blanket
Camera
Batteries
phone/address book
If you wear contacts, bring solution etc..
And for the baby
I brought a take home outfit., hat, booties, lil mittens for her hands, blankie,
The hospital provides a lot for the baby. Like the hat, and receiving blankets but when I took her home I wanted her to wear the stuff I bought.
I just recently gave birth so all this is still fresh in my mind.
If you need a quick pick me up, I suggest bringing your fave shampoo, conditioner, body wash, loofah, etc...they provide the stuff at the hospital but its basic stuff.
Good Luck girl..if you need anymore help, dont be afraid to ask!

OK I'm changing my whole post because you said they provide nothing - here goes:
-Pajamas for you - preferably button up front so you can nurse
-Giant pads - the most absiorbant and longest you can find
-underwear - ones you don't mind getting ruined
-socks, slippers
-nursing bra or sports bra
-breast pads so you don't stain those bras - I like Lansinoh brand that is contoured and has sticky stuff to stick to the bra
-Lansinoh lanolin creme for sore nipples
(I breastfed, but if you are formula feeding bring a can of powder formula and bottles with a couple different types of nipples in case your baby rejects one.).
-an outfit for you and baby to go home in. For you, shoot for something you wore around your 5 month mark because you wont shrink down immediately. For your baby, I'd bring 2 - 1 in a preemie size and one in a 0-3 months size just in case as ultrasounds are not 100% accurate to tell you how big the baby will be.
-package of diapers - think anywhere from 8-12 per day you'll be staying - better to have too many then 2 few
-baby wipes - unscented
-Your toiletries - brush, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towels, deodorant, contacts and contacts case if you wear them, glasses case if you use one.
-infant car seat
-and here's some thing s that I don't know if they would provide since they are a medical facilitry - tucks pads for hemmoriods, a water bottle to fill with warm water to "hose off" after ging to the bathroom (hint, fill partially with witch hazel for soothing effect), advil or motrin, cortisone creme if you think you will get an epidural (you can feel very itchy afterwards).
-labor aides - like massage oils and tennis balls and relaxing music
-change of clothes + toiletries for partner/husband if they will be staying overnight with you.
Thats all I can remember - good luck.

a nightgown that is easily opened to breast feed, if not 2, a set of clothes for the baby and a receiving blanket for when he goes home with you. They normally give you diapers for him, and pads for you. a tube sock with tennis balls just in case you have back labor. a brush, your toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and soap, you want to be comfy using your own toiletries will make you comfortable. Slippers, socks, a change of clothes for you to wear home, loose of course. its been 3 years since i had my daughter so thats the best I can do to remember what I took... oh yes don't forget the camera.... you want those pictures of him when he comes out, to some its not a nice picture, but to you, its the best picture ever, his first moments in the world... :D

you can start wih lots of baby clothes, because i didnt care much and i was shocked later to know my baby had to stay in hospital for 4 days and there were not enough clothes. Also dont forget your clothes should be 100 percent cotton.dont forget low heeled shoes and if you have an older son lots of candy, a paper and pen and hios toys
