as someone has metioned before communtity and school involvement is good.
test scores and workload also show alot. sat and or act test scores are very important to universities although it increases your chances alot if you do well if you dont do too well on these you still have a chance. technically you dont even have to take these but it helps alot. also for these tests depending on what grade you are in (im assuming your in high school right?) then you can take these tests basically as many times as you want. for instance, since im a junior in hs, im going to take it at least once (hopefully twice) so i can get the best score possible. you should do that if you have oppertunity.
work load is also important too. it looks better on applications that you would have a B in an honors or AP class than an A in a regular class (although that is still great too!) it shows that you are able to handle college level work.
good luck! :)

Besides good grades at school it depends on the university.
For eg:
Amerian Univ look mainly at SAT, TOEFL scores and at your extacurricular activities like whether you are active in sports, community services, know other languages, are popular among students as well as teachers, etc while, say, Indian universities look at grades only.

Colleges and Universities are also looking at your extra or co-curricular record. What do you do with your free time? Are you involved in any clubs or academic society's at school? Have you participated in any special academic events like Odyssey of the Mind or other science programs, Music festivals or studying aboard? Do you volunteer in your community? Are you involved in the band, chorus or drama club at school? Do you tutor younger children? How are you making a contribution? These are the kinds of things that admissions people look for.

Do you have Native American ancestry?
If so, I bet you don't have tribal affiliation. Tell your parents to hire a lawyer to make you legally Indian.
Do you REALLY know your ancestry?
Probably not. Tell your parents to buy a DNA ancestry test for about $300. If you are partially West African then make sure to report your lineage in college application.
