Am I doing something Wrong or is my i-pod faulty? mp3 tracks downloaded onto i-tunes or windows media player playback perfectly on these media players and download onto ipod nano ok. Tracks selected on i-pod nano play back perfectly through media players when ipod is connected to pc but when I try to playback through any earphones when not connected to pc ( I have tried several sets of earphones) the music is tinny and the vocals are quiet and echo as if being sung in a wind tunnel. Tried phoning technical advise helpline several times but I don't speak the advisors' language and they can't make themselves understood in mine.

It sounds like there is a problem with your headphone socket. I have a similar problem on my walkman phone...although the technology behind it is a bit more complex.

Basically your Ipod sounds fine through Itunes or Media player because the data is being streamed across a data connection and not being played back by your headphones. Incidentally the file quality within Itunes is decided by your import options..so the file on your Ipod is exactly the same as the one on your computer.

Try fiddling with your headphone connection and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't then you deffo have a problem and the Ipod will need returning for replacement or repair, depending on the terms of your warranty.
