I have been thinking about this book for abou a year, I used to read it as a kid, but we moved houses and lost the book! Duh!
Could anyone help me?
I remember it was a fantasy fiction book, that appeared to be part of a series. I distincltly remember(this was a section in the book) an elf city where the main character (I think the name was Megan)travels to with another human from this world (Conrad or Colin I think) and there she slept for days- all her travelling companions did.
Anyway, it featured seers, a scrying pool, mages, a bit where the man protaganist (colin/conrad) is captured by a troll army and he escapes. Megan imprisoned, all of them travelling on a boat manned (!) by sea- orcs.
Sorry this is all so slapdash, but I can only vaguely remember flashes of details. ( I think the femal protaganist and the male were lovers once)
Just remembered some more of the story- Colin/Conrad musn't fall into a powerful dark kings' hands because he has a brilliant mind

It almost sounds like "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe', but I don't think it so. Check out his web site for more help.

The only fantasy young adult book I remember with the main character of Megan was called the The Dark Is Rising Sequence and it had five books in the series. This sounds like the book "The Greenwitch" a little bit, which was the third book the series. If this is the correct one then the author's name is Susan Cooper.

Terry Brooks, he writes alot of fantasy fiction books and they are series. He has several series out. The Shannara Series and the Magic Kingdom series. They are all great and I am sure the book you are referring to is one of his.
