If you have syrian hamsters (teddy bear, black bear, panda bear, golden etc.) then the male should absolutely be removed to avoid canniablism. If you have dwarf hamsters, leave the male in he wont likely eat the babbies and they have even been known to bring the mother food while she is with the babbies and watch the pups while she is away. As far as how to cope with them, you should handle them alot starting at ten days of age, this way they will get used to people. Seporate males and females at four weeks to avoid inbreeding. They are difficult to sex at that age, but males have two openings on their bellies that are farther apart and the females have two that are closer together. Hope that helps =)

Put the father in a separate cage or he'll eat the babies.
Make sure you keep alot of food for the mother. This will keep her from eating the kids.
The mother may eat any of the babies if they are sick. If you find a dead baby, DO NOT PICK IT UP WITH YOUR HAND! Use a spoon to pick it up so that your scent won't get on the others.

AAAAAAACK! Whatever you do don't put the father back in the cage. He'll probably try to mate with the mother again, and she might fight and kill him. I bought a hamster two years ago and when I got her, she was pregnant. Another thing to do, I would feed your hamster mom small slices of fruit like apples, and maybe give her some flakes of oats. More protein. Small carrot slices would be good too.

you should probably put the male hamster in another cage. If you don't, you might end up with another group of baby hamsters. Why did you put the two in there together in the first place?

Put him in another cage. He will eat the babies or stress the momma out and she will eat the babies. Either way cannabalism is no good.
