John Cena as Captain America?

I know the movie is still way out there, i think its do out on 2008 but i think John Cena would be great for this movie, whos with me?

As to the guy complaining about the quality, of Superhero films, keep in mind that the majority of them since 2000 have fared quite well, if not by critics, at least with the fans.
Possible exceptions, Catwoman(too far from the source) and Hulk(too much Ang Lee, not enough Stan Lee).

The fans will show up if it is faithful to the source, and treated with respect.

The bad superhero films, on average, stopped in the mid-late 90's(Batman & Robin, Dolph Lundgren as Punisher, the Captain America1990 that you cited)

As to the complaint of Downey as Iron Man, Tony Stark is a middle aged Drunk, so the hiring of Robert Downey Jr. may be a simple case of typecasting.

My worry is that the director might be going back too far in the Comics for his source material, using the dull, bulky, grey, suit rather than the red/Gold most fans are accustomed to.

He might be a good choice, but they have had a few Captain America movies, and none has done too well. I think the whole Superhero genre has suffered so much from bad writing that the public knows what to expect. And as of late, the results have not been too good. They are making Iron Man, and they have hired Robert Downy Jr. for the part...if this isn't the death of the Superhero movies, I don't know what is.
