take him to the doctor and give him plenty of fluids and make sure hes well rested and stays away from cigarette smoke at all cost,and just wait it out,everyone including kids get sick,also make sure he takes all the medication given by his doctor even if he is feeling better

The first thing you need to do is determine if he has a fever. Acetaminophen, or ibuprofen will help. Remove layers of clothing, and no heavy blankets...even if he is shivering (this only means that his body is attempting to kill the bacteria by raising the temperature of the body)...however, overheating at such a young age can be dangerous...and never give ASA (acetylsalisicacid..asprin)...this can cause Reyes Syndrome. If the temperature is 104 or approaching this cool the body fast. And never submerge the small child in a tub of water.
If he is comfortable enough with a low grade fever then make sure you get the fluids into him. Sometimes, if he has been vomiting you can purchase Freezie pops from the drug store that have special electrolytic properties to them...ask your pharmacist. ...Dehydration can cause life-threatening problems.
I hope that this helps...and if you feel the need to bring him into the emergency room...please use a mask.

Get lots of water or non sugary juices in him
Check his temperture
If high put a cold wet towel on his forehead.
Lots of rest
Keep a blanket on him
If he has an appetite feed him some soup
Keep an eye on him
