I found this link and I'd like your opinion on it.
More to the point I would like you to go through the list of names and see if you recognise a reputable scientist from modern times.
It's a bit long, I know, but I'd like a scientific and/or secular view.
Thanks

I have no belief in Creationism
Empirical scientific evidence, yes
Ancient religious texts, no.
I just don't recognise anyone here.I do agree that the amount of scientists who don't believe in creationism would FAR exceed the few mentioned here.

Hznfrst, the last paragraph of your post was the most intelligent thing I've read all day!
Take a bow my man!

There are answers in Genesis, all right, but they're the *wrong* answers. From knowing how the selective "research" (that is, looking through the literature trying to find ambiguous statements out of context, and not a bit of actual science done in the field and published in journals) done by creationists works, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they added people to this list at random to try to make it appear as if there are lots of scientists who are creationists.

No doubt there are some, but if you compared the list of non-creationist scientists with this one it would contain at least a thousand times more names.

To presume that sheer speculation written down by ancient people thousands of years ago has the same weight as actual research done by thousands of contemporary scientists is the absolute pinnacle of religious arrogance! Do you people have no shame?

PS: Gnatlord is committing the same offense when he thinks creationism is "just another idea" of how the universe happened. It isn't even *close* to being on the same level as science. What matters in finding things out is the *method* being used. You don't get anything reliable by relying on "revelation." Science is testable and changeable with new information; religion is NOT!

Chas_chas is even worse, with his smug presumption that "nobody knows for sure, therefore both approaches have the same chance of being true." NOT! And he like all the other creationists always include "creationist scientists" who lived centuries ago, when evolution wasn't even thought of. When you count the scientists from 1859 on, you will be very hard pressed to find more than a dozen who are true creationists, and of those maybe one or two will be biologists.

Do you have a problem with the fact that many scientists believe in Creation? Including some of the greatest scientific minds of all time.

It is important to understand that everyone has exactly the same evidence - which exists in the present. Creationists and evolutionists interpret the same evidence with different worldviews. That is different assumptions about the past and different philosophical approaches.

People who dismiss creation as 'unscientific', or who claim that evolution (or creation) is 'proved', have missed the point. They either don't understand what science is, or want to hoodwink people into agreeing with them.

It is not possible to prove anything about the past using the scientific method, which involves observation, testing, repeating.

If one was to take an unbiased approach, one would ask simply which of creation and evolution provides the best explanation of the observed evidence. It is difficult ot take an unbiased approach, since we all have a worldview.

I used to believe that evolution was the best explanation, but then I discovered that there is an awful lot of evidence which contradicts evolution, which is 'hidden' by evolutionists and most of the media. But if you check Aig you will see that evolution is quite easy to to refute scientifcally.

After reading the article I did not bother to read any of the names on the list. Creationism could be wrong. The scientist could be wrong. I think it is within the mind of every person to make their own decision on what they believe because when it comes down to it. Man is only speculating how the universe was created. Whether it be through science or through the bible. The question is which one do you support? Biblical accounts have been written about with no proof to support it. Scientific accounts have been written about with many proven. So the way I see it, Just like there is the Big Bang theory, there is the Biblical theory.

For a fun counterpoint to AIG's bogus list of "scientists" have a look at Project Steve. This is an attempt to show by analogy the way that evolution is overwhelmingly supported by scientists.

People named Steve, Stephen or Stephanie make up about 1% of people in the US overall, and it's assumed that they make up a similar percentage of scientists. So Project Steve asked only scientists named Steve or a related name to sign up. There are now 771 Steves signed up to Project Steve - which works out at 77,100 scientists supporting evolution, compared to about 120 people overall signed up to AIG.

Obviously this isn't a serious comparison, but it does illustrate quite how overwhelming is the support for evolution among scientists. Not that science is determined by majority vote either - but when you've got people like Stephen Hawking and several Nobel prize winners on the list, you can assume they mostly know what they're talking about.

Interestingly, AIG's list has only a few actual biologists, compared to about 2/3 of the Project Steve list who are biologists.
