The communism can work and should work. The only problem no communist system was ever tried anywhere. The regimes in Eastern Europe and USSR were far from being communist. They call them such, but as I am not King of England by colling myself such, they were not communists.
Real communism will come only after the people's mindset will raise to such level of understanding for abolishing religions, recism, envy and will accept equal distribution, equal rights and equal duties. We are very far form such utopia.

American oppression had nothing to do with the end of communism as a major system in the old USSR. It was the communist elite that brought about it's own downfall - you cannot keep the underprivileged downtrodden forever, e.g. South Africa and apartheid. Sooner or later the rigid control used to keep the underprivileged down would come apart at the seams, and that is exactly what happened.
As a sideline, a communist leader was once chided that there was no equality - his answer, "Everybody in the USSR is equal, in fact, some are more equal than others".

Unfortunately, while communism is a great idea in theory, in practice it doesn't work very well. This is not because of American oppression or intervention but because of the seemingly innate greed of the people in power in the countries where it has been tried, and in fact in the world at large.
Communism is the ultimate egalitarian and democratic system, unfortunately greed and the hunger for power gets in the way. This changes the balance and thus makes it impossible for communism to work in any way other than creating a fascist state that is not truly communist at all.

No, The communist model forgets a few very important facts about the human animal.
We, as a species, look to our own good over that of others, even when it is to their detriment. We look for weaknesses in a system to exploit that will improve our chances of survival.
So called civilization is a very thin veneer over the most violent creature on this planet.
BTW, communism has never been tried in any country at any time in history. What we have had are a number of countries that had oligarchical dictatorships. We are now learning how bad things were in the USSR. From what I can tell, China is worse.

america oppressed the communist state? I think you have your deffinitions messed up, badly. Stalin, the leader who led the rebellion against the Tzar oppressed his own people and the emerging communism continued the trend, sending to Siberia thousands of people who spoke out against such rules he had made. America had nothing to do with it other than to be a Government that doesn't enforce different rules for different citiens. Which by the way, communism does.

the answer is no , Communism is too just and fair to be true , people aren't sinless angels , they too can be corrupt which leads to the corruption of the whole system..
and even though a good (non corrupt) communist system would be more efficient in the growth of a country than a capitalist one ,the capitalist managed to survive due to the welfare and the free media and democracy which gave the people a feeling that they are responsible for what is happening..
but if it were for me i would choose a middle path where the government would be competing against a strong capitalist system and business men .. with free media and democracy..

No it would not have worked at all, because it was not only America fighting off Communism, it was all other Countries, who were against it too. People eventually would have rebelled and searched for a new way. It was not only America.
