Because we write down what we want to say and then we edit it. We have to look at our own words dead in the eye before we submit them to another. Live we have no buffer - it just falls out of our mouths uncensored too often.

Because on line you can't see people laugh at you. And it doesn't matter if they think you are stupid because chances are you'll never meet them and you don't know them in real life or if you do then you don't really know its them. So you don't have to see them on a day to day basis. And you can always stop talking to someone on line but its harder to stop talking to someone in real life. There is a sense of anonymity on line because you don't know if who you are talking to is really who they say they are.

I support all above comments. It's easier, there's no face or eye to look into and you have time to think it and type. You don't even have to reply and you can reply later.

in life we are all afraid of failure. we don't want people to make fools of us. it's actually so stupid. i live by the philosophy of "we only live once so you might as well just enjoy it". im older now too which also makes me more confident with who i am. if people don't like me, it's their loss not mine.

Good question. Think its literally because people don't know us so we are not afraid that they will think any less of us by saying whats on our mind.

online you don't have to be fake to impress people.
online you can be open and honest if the person wants to judge that's fine they'll never meet you
in person you have to do everything to impress and not sound dumb...
