Yeah, they have basically the same ingrediants. Only difference is the OTC vitamins have less Folic Acid. It only has 400mcg and the Rx has 1mg. You can take those for now and drink some orange juice to compensate for the extra folic acid

As long as they have sufficient folic acid, they should be fine. What is it - 800 mg? I forgot - it's been a while. Maybe it was 750 mg. I'll find out - hang on...
EEK! Not milligrams - MICROgrams!! This is from drugstore.com:
Many prenatal vitamins are available, both by prescription and over the counter. Along with other ingredients, prenatal vitamins contain folic acid, a B vitamin that's very important to the development of a healthy baby. Studies have shown that taking at least 400 mcg (0.4 mg) of folic acid a day during the first three months of pregnancy can help prevent serious birth defects of the brain and spine. Some doctors think that the 400 mcg of folic acid contained in an ordinary multivitamin, together with a healthy diet, is enough. But other doctors believe that prenatal vitamins are a better choice since they contain larger concentrations of folic acid, and may provide additional iron, calcium, B vitamins, and vitamin C.
Nonprescription prenatal vitamins generally contain 500 to 800 mcg of folic acid. Prescription-strength prenatal vitamins generally have 1,000 mcg, also labeled 1 mg.
Whether you and your doctor decide on a prescription or nonprescription vitamin, look for a product containing vitamins A, D, E, B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B6, B12, and C. It's also important to take 1,000 to 1,500 mg of calcium daily during pregnancy. Most prenatal vitamins contain only 125 to 300 mg of calcium, so getting additional calcium through your diet or calcium supplements is important. Many doctors recommend iron supplements during pregnancy since the body's demands for iron increase. Choose a vitamin that contains 25 to 30 mg of iron. Also, the product you choose should have 800 mcg of folic acid, and no more than 5,000 IU of vitamin A. High doses of vitamin A can lead to serious side effects, including headache, double vision, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and liver damage.

Have you been prescribed any? I took some that I bought at K-mart because my appointment was 3 weeks away from when I called. But once I was prescribed them, I just took those instead- doctors know best, and will give you what you need.... that's my opinion, but ask your doctor and see what they say. Here's another thing- my baby was super healthy- 9lbs 10oz lol... and they said prenatal vitamins now days are far better than they were back in the day, and thus causing me to have a big baby- all of my tests that came back, said I was perfectly healthy-baby too... so they think that's part of the cause of my big boy. I don't think I would change a thing though- I'd rather a very healthy baby than not.

I did take the wal mart vitamins on my first child and I decided to get a prescription this time. They are the same, except one is $30 compared to $5 stay with the wal mart, I bet you doctor will agree.

you'll get a prescription for them, although the over the counter ones are purely as reliable. i'm using Nature Made. i don't think of one is amazingly extra useful than the different. purely make sensible it really is severe in folic acid, as that's an substantial progression block even as TTC and being pregnant. reliable luck.

i think they are about the same. When i asked my dr if i should get persctiption vitamins he looked at me like i had three heads and said that store bought is fine. So just keep taking the ones you bought and then when you go to your first appt ask what he/she recommends taking. Congrats on your pregnancy :)

You should compare the ingredients of the 2. Sometimes cheaper brands can have added unwanted fillers, or lower quality ingredients.
