ladies can abort an unwanted female fetus just as much as they can a male that question makes very little sense but that's not an argument I've ever heard or used to argue prochoice...

Awww come on, that's not a fair statement. The decision ultimately should lie with the woman because it is her body. There are a lot of other factors involved. Having a child is a life long decision and "usually" affects the woman more than the man. I'm not condoning abortion as a means for birth control but accidents do happen and if you're not ready then you're not ready. We're always talking about providing children with loving and stable homes. We need a licence to own a dog and yet any idiot who manages to get laid can have a child? Now that's something that doesn't make sense.

What are you talking about?
The issue is about a human being who is a member of society being the decisionmaker, instead of the state. That's the issue. If you are pointing out that women are the ones who get pregnant, that's true. Brilliant point.
Anyway, a fetus doesn't even have a gender for most of the first trimester, so your suggestion doesn't even make physical sense.
