In a supply and demand curve, total demand is never, ever satisfied. All products are supplied at some level on the supply and demand curves. The ideal for business being the equilibrium price. Some times, we have "good" people that supply commodities like housing at an "affordable" price, but, again total demand is never satisfied.
Wouldnt you agree with me that if total demand for "physical needs" which are food, warmth, and water, was fully satisfied, then, like air, there would be no price, hence NO SCARCITY (because the reality is there is no scarcity, there is an abundance of land which lies unused). and more importantly at the bottom levels of "poorer" countries, no starvation of lifes physical needs. Dont you think we need to create a divide between those goods that we do not die from, if we are short of them, and those goods that we dont die from, if we do go short.

you have just hit the key-problem of any capitalist society, this is the one of overproduction.

The capitalist economy produces to much goods than it sells, but they also pay the workers less than they need to buy the products they produce. This always leads to a major production crisis, which is solved with inflation. Of course this process can't continue like this, and better models need to be developed (like the economy of Keynes which was major improvement compared with the model of the 19-th century)

Those who go without things in life that are considered by others to be needed, do so because they don`t want them, or would rather spend their money on something else. There is not an abundance of unused land where houses can be built. Do you really think that if food, water, housing and warmth were free to everyone that that would mean there was more of all of them ? Supply and demand are the factors which feed commerce, and if the demand exceeds the supply, then it is usually because some where along the way, too many people are being greedy. Of course it would be an idyllic world if everyone had a roof over their heads, food, clothing, water, medical care. But it is not an idyllic world, never has been and never will be. A situation like that dose not work. Check how many communist countries have tried to run their economy that way. None of them has ever worked out. Man needs an incentive in life, he has to want something badly enough to work for it. Like they say `easy come easy go`

I didn't even read the detials, to be honest.
People go without becuase socialism fails. We not only don't share, but even when we do, competition breaks it all down again.
And the rich get richer,
and share a little bit.
Sometimes, the poor don't want change!!!
See, many years ago, LeFrak city was built just outside of Manhattan, NYC. The idea was to create an integrated mix of incomes and ethnicities. One requirement was that some of the rents be kept really low, and the people who moved in had to qualify by income standards.
The landlords could not fill the buildings! The poor were too scared to try to mix with the classes above them.
We buy into the beliefs others have of us, or those we've held for a while.
And the poor get poorer...
