The idea that the Christmas season is a time of great cheer is a falicy. This unfortunately is the season of the highest number of suicides, the highest number of automobile accidents and the most reported child abuse. People drink too much during the holidays and people are stressed out due to indeptedness.
Christmas is a very selfish season...I much prefer the quieter festivities of Thanksgiving. Once people realize that inspite of all the glitter and glitz, Christmas is distressing, people begin to mellow out and relax a little more.
The scrouge thing is most evident in the people who think they aren't scourge types. Sometimes the people who yell Merry Christmas the loudest are actually the most troubled at the season. Have you noticed that people during the Christmas season seem to feel like no matter what they do, it isn't enough? When you change that into whatever you do is more than enough, tensions seem to fade away.
The key is to NOT try to keep up with everyone else and let everyone else stress out...not you.
"Tis the season!"

because they want to get all the running around out of the way and be done with it so that they CAN enjoy the holiday because I know I hate it when I am in the store and people just park their shopping cart practically in the middle of a busy isle and just start to look at stuff and don't pay any attention to the fact that they are blocking traffic! that is sooooooooooooooooo totally rude to the other shoppers.

Well, the holiday makers would be annoyed that their holidays are disturbed. They expect everything to run smooth and easy. Especially those who have budget holidays they will be very careful of every cent they spend. But if they become satisfied most often than not they would give good tippings. Nonetheless, they become mean when anyone comes in their ways. But they are not easily satisfied and that is the difficulty to please them. So it goes to everybody who is paying for anything will become mean and rude if he feels he is not treated properly. Or they become very sensitive or unreasonable; they become self centred. Or they want to be served as king.

Cause they don't know the true meaning of Christmas. It's all too commercial now and that's a shame. I get stressed just hearing about all the crazies that do stupid things in stores just for the sake of buying needless stuff to see who can outdo the next door neighbor who whomever they are trying to impress.

Sometimes it's:
*Stress from relatives visiting and dropping by
*Depression from recent loss/death
*Stress from limited finances/job loss
*Just the holiday rush/shopping and long lines
You really never know so just be nice and let the crazy driver get in front of you (you never know he could be drunk or resort to road rage) Better Safe than Sorry!

I think just the stress of shopping, making sure you have everything, and sales. Many people forget the real reason for the holidays with the ones you love and care about.

Most people are stressing out. They all think they will never get everything done in time.
Then there are others who do not like celebrating anyway and they will be rude just because they don't want to be there.

its because of what christmas has turned into. It use to be about celebrating family and jesus and all that...and now people have to give gifts and cards and such to everyone on top of dealing with thier daily lives so it stresses people out which affects how they drive, act etc.

I think the pressure to "be merry" and that 8 million other people are all at the same place at the same time adds to this feeling of anger

Stress is the key. Rushing around, trying to find the perfect gift, being pressured to give to charity, all that.
