Planting false "evidence" might get you in a lot of trouble with the law. And before you shoot a burglar, you'd better be aware of the consequences.

#1 -- The "Castle Doctrine" isn't firmly established in all states.

#2 -- You'll mess up the house, and leave it and yourself with a bad reputation.

#3 -- It may not be all that easy for you to forget taking a human life, especially if it isn't an act of dire necessity.

Depends on the area. In some places you are only "allowed" to use one level of force above that which is being used against you, and shooting an unarmed person doesn't fit that bill. Other locales recognize your right to self-defense without restriction, and there's no real need to plant anything on the intruder.

I'd better still have my constitutional right to shoot intruders on sight, whether because of a revolution and the damned Tories or not!
And if I don't, lock me up. After those butch women get through with me, I'll know how to beat up the next guy with my bare hands, even if he's a 300 lb gorilla!

Your home is your castle and you have an exclusive right to be safe from harm. You can legally shoot and kill a blind man that enters your home in the mistaken event that he thought he was entering his own home.

If a police swat team says "open the door," and you're a 91 y.o. black woman with a gun, you can expect to have your head blown off because you're too stupid to follow the obvious commands of the police with a battering ram.

It's self defense. You wouldn't need to plant a knife on them. You didn't say if they had a gun or a weapon on them or not though.

No, that is false evidence, and is illegal. If you feel threatened by someone who broke into your house, you are within your legal rights to shoot him. However, if he leaves your property, it is illegal to shoot him.

nope, if you're in my house to rob me I'm going to protect myself. I don't know what you want and you weren't invited.
