Diverse cultures. If we were all the same there would be no diversity (differences), but different peoples (Indians, Russians, Australians, French, Mennonites, etc.) had different ways of doing things than others (lets say, African tribesmen) do, thus we have many diverse cultures.

It is simple. The question contains the answer. Different people live in different areas, which makes up their society. The culture is the values, morals, ethics of which the people who live in that particular society have deemed important. People as a group or as a society determine how they live, what they accept and what they reject as important. Diversity just simply indicates differences, such as different views. A society in Africa would obviously deem issues of importance different than someone living in say Italy. There are many factors of similarties found in all cultures. All cultures will have the same basic hierarchy of needs because we all share the same quality of being human. For instance Basic human needs will always be the core of any society and thier existence. Those needs are food, water, shelter, love. Next if the first basic needs are not met, they can't place much value on anything else. If a child in Ethiopia is starving, he does not care about secondary needs. Primary needs need to be met first. Next security needs arise. All humans need to be safe and secure. If those needs are met then people of any culture can form social needs/ desires.Still yet, if all of these human components are met then one begins to focus of what they want from life, the ego's needs/desires. Still if one has met these requirements then they may come to a place of self actualization of trying to decide what life is about and what their purpose is a individual and as a society. If one has arrived through meeting these stages they generally begin to form their spiritual beliefs and soul searching stage. This is done as an individual but also influenced a great deal by the society in which they live in. For instance, a dictatorship society would dictate how you live, if and who one worships, etc. A democratic Nation would give more options to allow its members of its society to adapt more variations. Simply put different people live in different areas so therefore adapt different ways of live but even so, no matter how diverse we are in societys we still all share the same basic human existance and truths.

Given any group, it will subdivide. Genetically as well as culturally.
Forget all the other reasons, this is why we will never be a cohesive country.
