I read an article in the paper about this. It said that teachers do not consider classroom assistants to be on the same level as they are, which is unfortunate, because they couldn't do their jobs without people like you.

You should probably be glad for it. If they're that catty, do you really want to be part of their social group? Look for another job. Usually people in the "Helping Professions" are very supportive of each other, but if that's not the case, maybe it's time to move on. Maybe just moving to another school in the same district would be good for you.

I had two thoughts about this. One, I've heard that there's a lot of turnover with TA's. Maybe they just don't want to get too close to someone who might leave soon. I was temping for a little while and I remember being the odd one out - after a while I figured it was because they knew I wasn't staying long.

Or, you're not a friendly person. Are you? No offense.

The opposite of what you are doing now... don't wait for people in life. Take charge. If you want to meet them, then just go right up to them, introduce yourself and start a conversation.

Next time you are at a book store, buy the book, " How to win friends and influence people". It is not expensive and it may give you some good tips. Life is too short to be shy and sad because of it.

Bring a special treat to school. Bake some cookies or brownies. That should break the ice.

They are very rude and maybe just maybe you might not want them to talk to you because they seem like a bunch of air heads .Don't sweat it just do your job i pretty sure that someone their will be more nicer then those that you are around.

ask yourself why you are there.

If its to make friends, then your in the wrong place.

But if its to help the children, then don't worry about what the adults think of you. wether they talk to you or not.

If you are unhappy, then you just haven't admited the truth as to why you are really there.

Put yourself out there and talk to them. It's a work environment, they should all be acting professionally.

Maybe they don't talk to you because you might give off the vibe that you don't want to talk to them.

I know, this happens alot.
If you are interested in them then I would say to try to develop a friendship with one of them

If not, you have a life outside of work... do your work and get on with life..
