my music taste for the most part is stuck in the 90s which is ok but damn sometimes i think "wow i listen to boring music" i do like some newer bands like the postal service, the shins, and two of snow patrols songs. can you please name some noncrappy new bands for me to listen to? lets stick to rock and ummm i guess pop is ok. thanks!

What's wrong with old music? If anything, I thinkyou should go further back. Modern music is mostly crap anyway.

But heres a few modern bands that are good.

Dresden Dolls
Mindless Self Indulgence
Bright Eyes

Seriously, though, 60's and 70's music? Friggin amazing.

you sound like one of my friends. she's "stuck in the 90s" as well. she says it makes her feel like her parents who are stuck in the 60s and 70s.

i do like my chemical romance. they started out as a personal indulgence, but i think they've actually got something to them.

i love love Imogen Heap she's electronica, and her music is oh so lovely. she was also in an electronic duo Frou Frou. you want to check that out. so maybe you're "postal service" side will latch onto her.

i very much heart The Decemberists. they songs can range from whimsical to hauntingly poetic. they're definitely an oddball band but they're excellent.

OK Go! my brother has their cd and it's pretty good. fun pop rock songs that don't wallow in self-pity or lust after some other's girlfriend.

i guess that's good from me.

Seether is very good, imo. You might like Brand New (good cd = Deja Entendu). Just pick up a copy of Rolling Stone for some ideas, and listen to the radio.

if you like the postal service you would like deathcab for cutie.

if you said what specifically you were into as far as older bands i may be able to help you with some newer bands, but i cant really do much based on what you said here.
