Well, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and the significance of that event - it means so much more than the decorations, parties, shopping and gifts, or even Santa Claus.
In some countries, where Christianity has been practised for a lot longer than in Europe, some people spend Christmas night in church or just praying. Some of them may have even gone vegetarian for a set number of weeks preceding that special commemoration.
European and American Christmas traditions are related to Norse winter rites, especially the decoration of trees and caroling. None of those habits are part of the original Middle-Eastern Christmas rites or traditions.
The same is true of Easter eggs, which are also a Scandinavian springtime tradition predating Christianity, and are therefore almost exclusive to Western cultures.
So, the question here may be: What if Christmas as we know it doesn't happen? To which one may reply that, Jesus will continue to mean a lot to many people, party or no party.

Christmas doesn't happen for most of the world's population. It only happens for Christians. It is nice to have a special season when we consciously think of, and give to, other people. I like to think that would happen even without Christmas. :)

I think if Christmas didn't happen know one would be happy becuase everyone gets happy on Christmas and gets happy because they are looking forward to Christmas right? I would die without it also there would be no people alive because it is in with Jesus's story it wad when Jesus was born from Mary. So there would be know people or anything...dont you agree.

That is a really sad thought, because Christmas helps people become better people, if we didn't have this holiday children would not have a chance to experience the special joy that comes with the season, especially the ones that whose families need help, would not get stuff that they want and need.

There would be no real change. Macy's would have come up with another holiday to exploit. There would be some other holiday were we get together with our families and come to blows.
But, I am glad we have Cristmas, because in the end, I do love the holiday. So lets Deck those Halls!
