Make it easy on yourself and buy prewashed items then you won't have to worry about using warm water. I use warm water on almost everything and have never had a problem. Putting in a dryer will also make things shrink so dry them on low.

Always wash cottons in cold water and do not tumble dry with heat. You can fluff some of the wrinkles out before hanging them to dry by putting them in the dryer and tumble with no heat for a few minutes.

cold wont make clothes shrink but if they have stains use clorox for cold water.if they are white clothes and stained like underwear use warm water.i have used only warm water to wash and cold to rinse.sometimes i pretreat stains if they are already set up in the material.dont use bleach on colored and that includes jeans as well.
