This is a more roundabout approach but requires you to know that there are 454 grams in a pound and 16 ounces in a pound:
? ounces = [8g]x[(16oz)/(454g)]=0.282 oz
There are about 28.4 grams in an ounce.
Think about this the next time you are eating some cereal where the sugar content is 14 grams sugar per 1 ounce serving of cereal (almost 50% sugar).
Or you are munching on some snack that has 10 grams of fat per one ounce serving(1/3 fat). It's like smashing the bag of chips into crumbs in a glass and that glass is filled 1/3 with grease.
