It's worth like 4% of my grade and would take about 10 hrs to do... what is the point?? I already blew off one of these stupid "Response papers" before and the professor was nice about it but this one is just ridiculous. i have to read 100 pages to write a 2 page stupid thing?

yea the annoying part is the paper is basically on a topic i know about... and will learn nothing from writing. i just have to make it specific to this 100 page book and 30 page article.... about "constructing a theoretical argument" - yes,... i know how to write up a paper for a journal... i dont need to read a 100 page book on "when to use the passive voice" and "when is an argument incomplete vs inadequate" ugh - torture!... this sh*t makes me think i dont belong in a phd program.

just start writing... it's senseless and stupid to ask someone to write a response paper worth 4% of their grade on 100+ pages of reading. nobody else here realizes that this is a grad school paper and you'll get a good grade regardless. what matters is what the prof thinks of you . just start working on it and it'll just come out of you like diarrhea.

I can't dog on ya cuz I'm the biggest procrastinator I know. I'm always writting those papers in the 11th hour. Fortunately those 4%ers are usually easy.
Think of it this way, sometimes you only need like 3 or 4% to take you from a C+ to a B-, or from B+ to an A-.
So just get at 'er!! Good Luck!!

Don’t stress to much on trying to read all the pages that are issued, just skim over the article you have to read, read mainly 1st couple pages and last pages , or go online and search for reviews of the article and go from there. Don’t procrastinate its only 2 pages, U can do it, just do it. Good luck

It's not that hard. Just dedicate an hour per day to the task. Once you get going on it, it'll take on a life of it's own. Just get organized and started. Hint; if you can, choose a subject that you like. I'm sure you can do it. Good luck.

the general idea is to get an education. if you read 100 pages, you will learn something. if you think and organize the paper, and think as you write it, you will gain something. so stop struggling and get educated. thank the teacher, your parents and the system for this wonderful opportunity.

It isn't about the percentage of your grade. It is about the work. You need to do it because it is a requirement. What if something were to happen and that 4% was the deference between passing and failing? Just suck it up and do it. It can't hurt.

Maybe you can learn something on the subject.
That might be interesting.
It also shows your teacher you are a serious person
which can be useful for recommendations for example.
Also 10 hours is not that much.
I am sure you can spend more than that on a book.
Anyway good luck.
