Anne Boleyn, one of King Henry VIII's wives was very beautiful. She had six fingers on her hands. She created a new clothing style at that time - with a long frill on the sleeves of her gowns in order to cover the 6th finger. She was such a clothes icon that it became a fashion rage and ladies all over the kingdom copied her style.
So it is nothing new or hurtful or shameful.
Good luck.

This may or may not be a defect. Many people have the 6th digit. Some scientists have questioned whether or not the 6th digit is part of evolution. That being the case, surgery may be tampering with natural processes. If it is the case that a 6th digit is naturally superior to 5, eventually all future generations will have 6 digits.

My brother has six fingers on his right hand! His fingers are functional but the extra one is fused with the normal pinky so it does not move on it's own! You can have the extra appendage removed but it may cause complications later on in life! We call him "SIX"
In some cultures they believe an extra appendage meant you were one of two...meaning a twin.
Better a finger on your hand than a head on your back! lol

Not only possible, many people have them. Though, in most cases, the 6th digit is unused due to lack of muscle control. It's a minor defect from birth and can be corrected with surgery.

Yes! It's called polydactyly. I've seen it a bunch of times. Most of the time, the extra fingers (or toes) are little more than skin tags, and they are easily removed.
Polydactyly is usually genetic.
Here's an article about it with pictures:
