Would Hillary Clinton use force against Iran?
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's Remarks to the Council on Foreign Relations
In an address October 31, 2006 said
U.S. policy must be unequivocal: Iran must not build or acquire nuclear weapons.
We have to keep all options on the table, including being ready to talk directly to Iranians should the right opportunity present itself. U.S. policy must be unequivocal: Iran must not build or acquire nuclear weapons.Direct talks, if they do nothing else, lets you assess who's making the decisions -- what their stated and unstated goals might be.

Given our previous foreign policy, we will probably wait until they actually admit that they have them.
Since that will never happen, the US, or at least the politicians in the US, will do nothing about it until they have actually launched a nuke.

Surely Iran will have to be persuaded through diplomatic negotiation. There is no mileage in the US thinking in terms of military action - just look at the disastrous mess in Iraq. The Iraqis offered no real opposition, but Iran would be somewhat different - for one thing it has an air force, which, though not as well equipped as a western nation's, might cause a few headaches. The Iranians would be a lot more determined, too, in their opposition to a land invasion and would not capitulate as easily as the Iraqi army.
Unless the USA gets Israel to act as a proxy by carrying out air raids on Iranian nuclear facilities (which would destabilise the Middle East even more), then the only answer is through diplomatic means and, maybe, some very intensive sanctions. Or just wait until the young of Iran depose the present government.... it could happen!

The former president of Iran, President Mohammad Khatami, was a person who wanted his country to open and begin negotiations with the US because the country wanted to westernize. When Khatami was president the Bush administration said he did not matter because the real power in the country was controlled by the Mullas. Now that there is a person in this position that scares Americans the Bush administration would have Americans believe he is all powerful, which is it all powerful or no power? Bush scared the Iranians into voting for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he called them members of the axis of evil and invaded Iraq. They see the US will not invade North Korea because North Korea has the bomb so they believe if they have the bomb we will not invade. If we guarantee the US will never invade Iran and they believe this they might not develop a nuke. It worked in Cuba and it worked in North Korea until Bush threatened North Korea.

Probably use those Bunker-buster nukes or maybe some super biological weapons? I don't really know, but it's all going to be very entertaining, just like Iraq. The US will stop Iran though, it's like Iran themselves have said, everyone in the world has to do what the US and Britain decide. Just the way it has always been and always will be. All very entertaining.

The US will stop them by suggesting that they might have nukes hidden under a dirt pile somewhere. Then we'll hear about all the human rights violations. Then we'll storm the capitol and force the leadership into holes. We will take responsibility for their oil and guard the oil lines. At that point we will attempt to change the 2000 year old culture of the nation to accept McDonald's. So there!

Unless US has Russia and China backing its plans, no use building castles in the air. There is a news item today that Russia is willing to back some sanctions. We have to note one basic fact. World today runs more on commerce than ever earlier. We have to somehow ensure that it is in the financial interest of Russia and China to throw sanctions against Iran. Russia today is supplying Military hardware and building nuclear reactors in Iran. They have to have something much more profitable to be on board. The same argument can apply to China at least partially. It is not easy.

It's more likely they already have them as they have the $$$ and could have bought them from Russia or other underground sources. They are also covert in disguising and moving their nuclear sites around. I'm sure Pres Bush is aware of this that is why his insight to curb terrorists spread is vital even if those bleeding hearts around him are ignorant.

Truthfully, I dont know how the US can stop it. I think the world can only delay it.
Because Bush has completely and irrevocably screwed up the Mideast, options for the US are pretty limited.
I think we are all screwed.
