No revolt. A lot of people don't care about illegal immigrants. And a lot of people don't see a plausible way to deport all of them, so what's the point really?

I don't expect the issue to just die down. If the government doesn't at least enforce the laws that are already on the books, I'm afraid individuals will eventually take matters into their own hands. I have lived a long time and I have never seen so many people so fired up about an issue. If the people speaks and no one listens, there will be major problems. Where and when I couldn't even guess.

No, nobody wants to make it an issue but weakened conservative politicians who are grubbing for issues they can lean on.

We have had this degree of "gray" immigration forever. The current wave of anti-immigrant enthusiasm is part racist and part self delusion, and a lot like Nazi propaganda. The "solution" proposed by conservatives - a national identity card - is so absurd and anti-American as to be a joke.

Our economy depends on illegals to do the grunt work, and illegals pay more than their share of tax revenue, mostly by the tax extracted from their checks that they cannot reclaim. A "guest worker" system would be the most honest way to face the issue, but neither side likes it.

The group that extracts the most "welfare" money from the US budget is the upper middle class, according to IRS statistics, mostly in the form of medicare, medicaid and government business and farm payouts.

I don't think so. This is not a new issue. It's just been avoided by politicians, from both parties, for a long, long time. No revolts before.

I would guess San Diego would be the first to show civil unrest as they seem to be the ones winning elections by promising tougher border controls. If it were to happen at all.

Most people would think the idea of "war in the United States" is rediculous. Think about it................It's happened once, and not that long ago. Things get much worse, the "first shot fired" could even be close to your town.
