Awwwww I'm sure you're not an idiot, don't say that about yourself. Do you guys talk? As in, are you able to have an intelligent conversation with him. If so, then you're not an idiot. Anyway - yes, 100%, opposites can attract. You don't want to be *just* like your partner or it makes for a very boring relationship. Sure, you should have things in common, but it's fun to disagree about things, or to like something very different than your partner. For example, my friend used to hate country music, but her husband loved it and she wound up loving it, too. My fiance is very likable but is shy with new people and doesn't like groups. I LOVE groups and speak to hundreds of people at a time as part of my job. I make him a more social person and he shows me how to enjoy one-on-one time better than I did. I hated cats, he made me love them. Relationships are a lot about learning and growth and sharing. Not only can opposites attract, but sometimes they make the best couples.

I think its fundamentally obvious that this is the case. From our early school days with simple magnets to the complexity of life and relationships.... I attract/am attracted to people so very different to me. Possibly in real life, one member of a "partnership" switches the polarity? maybe that switch is caused by work or stress/money worries, it could be a host of reasons..... then things begin to go pear-shaped? Possibly, in a really sound relationship both partners see it happening and want to hold the relationship? its time to change slightly - to rekindle what is there...

my answer is YES - definitely!!!!!

I read in a book that what initially attracts and intrigues you about a person is how opposite or different they are compared to you. However, the book also said that what makes relationships last is how similar they are to you. So basically, in the long run, people stay or marry people who are very similar to them.

yup you 'complete' eachother. but sometimes opposites can become a burden, but its always better than having somebody like you coz youve got yourself already right?
