Ok heres the deal I was in the mall with my girlfriend the other day and we walked by the santa stand...We got into this discussion during lunch that instead of paying a person to dress up and act as santa they should build a mechanical santa that looks, sounds and acts like santa...and that feels like a human when the kid would sit on his lap and talk to him. Do you think that this would be a good or bad idea?

Why would a mechanical Santa be necessary? If we keep getting robots to do the jobs of people, then people are going to run out of jobs....plus, no robot can replace a "real" Santa.

Bad idea. Not personal enough. There needs to be conversation between Santa and the child.

yh that type of technology has been available in japan since 04' only that used it to make a robot tour guide instead of santa

Good idea....because when I was a kid I sat on santas lap and he had a hard-on...traumatized me for life....i wanna kill all the fat bastards

hmm not a good idea...specially if the kid were to tug on his beard to see if he's real and it comes off and all he sees are flashing lights, robotic metal, and beeping lol

if our technology was that good i think that would be a great idea. but we are far from that type of technology in engineering robotics
