I'm currently re-reading "Help Yourself" by Dave Pelzer. Every self-help book contain good advice and can be applied in your everyday life. I think it's a matter of preference, really, but I find this book I'm reading to be among the best self-help books out there.

Well, if you need help finding yourself and reassuring yourself then I'd recommend The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron (see link). Although it's aimed loosely at people wanting to be more creative (in any way) I find it's invaluable for looking at all aspects of life differently and I like to dip into it when I'm feeling down for a bit of comfort and positivity. Technically you're supposed to follow it as a course over 12 weeks but I don't see any harm in going any pace that suits, it's taken me a few months but I always look forward to reading on, it does work. If you're quite religious that'll help because it does make reference to God, or a higher power, thoughout. I, however, am totally unreligious but it doesn't matter, I can still appreciate the sentiment behind the ideas.

Happy self-helping!

My mother made me read a book called "Embracing the Light" by Barbra J Eadie. It isn't actually a self help book. It's a book the author wrote about her experience of momentarily dying and being brought back to life. I normally hate this kind of stuff, but it really gave me something to think about, and I can honestly say that it has changed my perspective.

My friend had one that got her to repeat affirmations such as "i am positive therefore positive things will happen to me" "i like life so life will like me" erm yeah that would help me sort my life out. Not sure how a book could make you feel better about yourself or know where your life is going. Just graduated with a degree in psychology and counselling lecturers seemed to have a low opinion of them. I have no idea what i wana do for a career at the mo and cant think no matter how much i read stuff like careers books etc it does any good at all, so not sure how a book could help you sort out deep issues like who you are, or where youre goin in life overall.......think it seems a bit like desperation. Read a good fiction book, quality fiction writing is often more insightful as to the human psyche, what the world is all about etc

The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book is great for finding the source to inner peace. It is a very simple book, with a clear message. It worked for me because, it was easy for me to apply my common sense to it. I am presently reading a book called, Ask and it is given. Also a great book for tuning into oneself!! Have you heard of any of these books?

Yes. Some self-help books are really wonderful.
I would suggest "Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins to whoever cares to ask me. It's the ultimate self-help guide.

I don't know whether this qualifies as Self Help, but a book which really helped me, and many friends I recommended it to was:
"The Cosmic Ordering Service" by Barbet Mohr.
It was almost scary!
Try it.
Good luck!

Wayne Diers is a good author. I can never really read self help books though because it's hard for me to take advise from someone who doesn't know me.

Transform Your Life by Kelsang Gyatso...

Very good and helpful book, as with any self help book you have to want it to work and open your mind.
