There is a report that The Cubs offered him a 4 year deal. If they sign him, and Jason Schimdt do you think that will put The Cubs over the edge and into the WS?

I confess! I am a closet Cubbie fan!
Can you blame me for thinking this might be the year that The Cubs & The Tigers have a re-match of 1945 (same results) and what should have been in 1984?

If they get both it would be grreat!!!i hope we get at least one of them and yes i will be looking forward to what should of been in 1984..thanks to the network talking MLB in switching home field advantage....in my personal opinion home field advantage should go to the team that has the best record,..not winning the All-Star game...they should have a different incentive for that..like haveing an extra cash bonus

Hey, George, it's your friend Cyril. I think that the Cubs are going to be the 2007 team that skyrockets like the Mets and Tigers did this year. I believe that the Cubs, with all of their new additions, like Soriano are going to get into the playoffs. They might go on to win the World Series, but they'll have to atleast make the NLCS with all of these new people.

Come on GP do you honestly think all this activity will get those Loveable Losers to the WS,I know that the Div. that your Tigers are in is tough but the Div. my Birds are in seems to be getting tougher as we speak The Cardinals have been the CLASS of that Div. for a long time and last year with all the injuries we eeked out a Div title, but we dominated the first half and the 2 previous years with 105 & 100 wins.I see the Baby Bears improving but WS caliber I think not.The team I'm more worried about is the Reds they are always just a handful of victories away from contending. Those Cubbies always play the Cards like its the WS anyway and it showes in our record against them, which I believe is 500 or below, but they always choke in Aug.-Sept.I know you've seen those little schedules you get from taverns and other places,Well that line that says fold here on the Cubs schedule in right in the middle of Aug.-Sept.HA HA

It's too early to tell. I have to commend the Cubs organization for trying to put a quality team on the field. They have a loyal if not rabid fan base and their fans deserve to see a quality product. But from worst to first, I don't know. I know what you're thinking, that if the Cubs do better than the White Sox, it will burn all those White Sox fans whom you loathe so much.
BTW, please ignore the few nitwits who decided to go after you personally. They are not true baseball or hockey fans. Just nitwits. The sports fans on this board appreciate your questions.

I think the Cubs are definately going to give it a shot. Hopefully Kerry Wood & Mrak Prior will get their Act together but lefty Ted
Lilly and dependable Jason Schmidt will do just fine. Where are
they planning to play Soriano, 2B or leave him in leftfield? Lou
Piniella should get Lou Whitaker as a coach then there would be 2 Sweet Lou's

If cubs get Lilly it will just make them more of an underachieving team. Let's face it Mets will still have a better offense and what if Mets get Zito then what will happen? What if Braves get a bullpen, then what will happen? It's too early to say what teams are going to do, especially since free agency is just starting to heat up. As for Lilly what has he done in his career? He is just a good 4th or 5th starter never has been a top of the man starter and probably never will.

Cubs have had MUCH better talent then Lilly come and go without even seeing the series, time will tell. Soriano is going to be the guy that gets you to go the distance if anyone is gonna do it. As a red sox fan i hope you guys do it, that is unless you have to face us, in which case goodnight

Well, Kudos to the Cubs, they definately are interested in building a championship team. The groundwork has been laid and Pinella is there. Contenders? Early to call, but good possibility

anything can happen even miracles like the cubs going to the WS.but there is still the matter of playing the regular season games first.injuries play a big role.they certainly have done a good job of improving themselves though.
