Ha. I just made up this huge list for an earlier posting that went mostly unappreciated, but perhaps you'll find it of use.

- one (or two) tickets to a local ballet company performance

- a DVD of a ballet performance (these are from just $11 for Balanchine's _Nutcracker_ on Amazon.com and range to about $28; others I recommend are Balanchine's _Jewels_, The Royal Ballet's _The Firebird_, American Ballet Theatre's _Swan Lake_, _Esmeralda_, _Sleeping Beauty_, ABT's _The Dream_, _La Sylphide_)

- a ballet movie (_The Company_ starring Neve Campbell; _The Red Shoes_ starring Moira Shearer; _The Dancer_; _Tony Palmer's Film About Margot Fonteyn_; _Balles Russes_)

- a ballet book (_The Ballet Companion_ by Eliza Gaynor Minden; _The Ballet Book_ from ABT; _Round About the Ballet_ by William Cubberley; _The Pointe Book_ by Janice Barringer; _101 Stories of the Great Ballets_ by George Balanchine)

- a ballet photo book (_The Royal Ballet in House_, _Ballet: An Illustrated History_ by Mary Clarke)

- a 2007 Lois Greenfield _Breaking Bounds_ calendar of dance photography

- a ballet poster from the New York City Ballet website or AllPosters.com or Art.com

- a $12 year's subscription to _Dance Spirit_ or _Pointe_ magazine, or $30 year's subscription to _Dance_ magazine (my favorite)

Well I live in maryland and I am a ballerina and PLEASE DONT GET HER BALLET SHOES unless she asks because usually we need a spefic kind and you don't want her teacher angry because she has unproper attire.....so maybe a pretty srunchie or jewelry with a ballerina on it I saw a pair of ballerina earrings at claires I actully have them or even clothing that resembles dancing.....but most important if it comes from your heart and your getting it for your friend (not a ballerina thats just a nice qualtiy )..... I hope I helped......where does she live in maryland? I live in Columbia what studio does she go to? I might know her........TTYL

Do you know who her favorite dancer(s) is/are? If you do, I would say to get her something that has to do with that person or people (maybe a movie they were in.....a poster.....etc.)

I wouldn't reccommend buying her shoes or dancewear unless you are very aware with what she likes and/or needs to wear - because each person is different and buying her something in an area that you may not be familiar with doesn't seem like the best gift idea.

Or you could always offer to take her shopping for something she needs!
And if you are willing to pay more, then you could buy tickets for you and her (and maybe others) to see a ballet or musical.

I feel that any of those things show that you really care about what she does, instead of just getting her something "ballet" you customize her gift in a way that makes it extra special for her. Those are always the best gifts.

Good luck!
=)

Hey..I used to be a professional ballerina and I always thought the best gifts are from this website: www.discountdancesupply.com. They have the cutest stuff and it's cheap!!! They also have free catalogs on the site too if you don't know what to look for :). Good luck!!!

I would get her something small, like a necklace with a ballet shoe, that's what my friend made me for my birthday and it made me so happy, and I wear it everyday, I'm a ballerina that's why. =)

well, if you could find a picture (w/ frame)of a ballerina then that would be perfect. maybe you could ask her if she needed a new pare of dance shoes or sompthang! or maybe even a gift card to a dance store of her chose! i know since i'm a dancer myself, that a dancing book would be awesome, or also something like a glass/mug, shirt, tu tu, leotard, hair clips, shoes, ECT.

hope that helps

Get her one of those Dance, Dance, Revolution things, if she has a Playstation2, Xbox, or Gamecube (I think).

If she doesn't have the right game system, try to get her something different that doesn't involve dance. ; )
