Hi,

You have the following choices:

1. Activate POP3 access in your Gmail and use a Mail Program that supports 'read receipt' (eg: Thunderbird, MS Outlook or Outlook Express,...)
2. Use a broker website (like readnotify.com) and send your email to .readnotify.com. That means if you want to send an email to "admin@mail.com" you should send it to "admin@mail.com.readnotify.com"

Remember although option 1 is free, but the receipting should support read receipt feature too otherwise it will not send you a read receipt. Option 2 will work even if the receipt doesn't support read receipt, but is not free.

Take care,

Use a pop3 email client like outlook to access gmail, which can supply a return receipt.

If you can afford to pay for google apps for business, that's the best solution.

If you don't want to pay and don't want to include third party apps in your email, you can actually create your own read receipt notifier using your Google Drive account (Uses google script). See this for details- http://www.skipser.com/p/2/p/gmail-read-receipt.html
