Never been to Cuba myself but I've known someone who went to this hotel and was very happy. But as I don't see him any longer I can't get more details, sorry.

yes i stayed there 2 yrs ago...it was brilliant and i'd go back anytime. the main pool gets busy during the day, but there are 2 other pools, 1 is a swimming pool (rectangular with lanes) the other is a freeform one with a bridge over the middle, this is where i spent my days, it has a 24hr poolside FREE bar with all drinks and snacks (burgers, chips, etc) and is next to the massage parlour and games room. There is an a la carte restaurant next to it aswell where you can go a few times...that was very good too. The main restaurant meals are fine but get a bit boring, there's a really good pizza house just outside the hotel round the corner but eat inside there or you get chewed to death by the mozzies. All the evening entertainment and the nightclub are at the other side of the hotel, across the grass from the main reception, the entertainment team do it themselves but it's a good laugh (very Butlins!!). There's another hotel restaurant there too which was much better than the main one but we didn't find until the 2nd wk. Theres not much within walking distance outside the hotel but going on some trips is a good idea. All the old American cars are great to see. Cuban people are fantastic, yes they're poor, but they do share everything, with you aswell as each other. Take plenty of $1 US bills for tips and spare toiletries, like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes. Unlike the rest of the Caribbean you don't get hassled by beggars everywhere you go, and the people are always smiling and dancing, with any excuse for a festival. Havana is a flight away but worth the trip, we also went swimming with dolphins (brilliant) flew to Jamaica for the day (an experience!!) a day trip inland and to Santiago de Cuba ( a good day)
The holiday itself was quite cheap and was worth every penny though not necessarily worth a lot more. The biggest bed I've ever slept in, a different shape made out of your towel every day by the maid, food's edible but a bit boring, brilliant staff, beautiful pools and beaches, quiet days round the pool in the fantastic sun with all free drinks (incl cocktails) and entertainment at night. Free food and drink 24 hrs per day. Lots of Canadian guests but no Americans. I think we paid about £500 each for 2 weeks and spent about another £300 each on trips but that's it there's no shops to spend your money in, so apart from tips there's nothing else to spend your money on.
Remember that if you want 5 star luxury you have to pay for it, and have a great holiday.
