Zomig nasal spray or relpax works well. Also, make sure you are well hydrated and drink some caffeine--it helps constrict the dilated vessels that cause the headaches

Well, first, you need to know if what you have is a migraine. If you have been to a doctor and have been told you have migraines, then use your doctor's recommendations.
A lot of people call headaches that hurt a lot migraines and that is usually not a migraine.
Check out the WebMD site for exact description of a migraine. There are several types; some can last for days, others come in quickly but appear first with an "aura." You will experience a temporary partial loss of vision, followed by mosaic trembling patterns in one of your eyes. Then the headache starts. (This is the classic migraine).
The way to get rid of migraines is to take a prescribed medication from your doctor, like Imitrex, or Maxalt and there are a couple of other ones as well. They usually come in a container of six and are expensive. Your doctor might opt to place you on a medication to eliminate your migraines by placing you on Inderal for a few months. This treatment can last for years if taken as directed.
Best wishes to you. Just be sure you have a migraine by checking with your doctor first.
For a severe headache, you will do best to take an aspirin and ibuprofen at the same time (unless you are allergic to them), then place a moist cloth on your head and neck (usually gets your neck as well), then lay on the bed in a dark room for a little while. Some people have to go to sleep to be rid of their headache. Light always hurts your eyes with a migraine.
Best wishes.

Rest in a dark room with a cool cloth over your forehead and eyes, and sleep. A friend has a hot shower, and massages the back of his neck before he lays down. So do I, and I have learned that taking pain relief does not help, as some people are prone to vomiting when suffering a migraine, so the medication has no effect whatsoever, as it would with a regular headache, i.e. tension headaches.

Headaches can be caused by a number of things, from intracranial pressure, forward head posture, problems of the cervical spine, neuromuscular reflexes causing referred pain, ect. Basically your body is telling you something and you need to find out what it is and have the problem taken care of! The best thing you could do is see a chiropractor for this problem. They have the highest success rate for reducing the number and frequency of headaches. An upper cervical chiropractor is your best bet.
Good luck!

When I get a migraine, if I'm able to, I will lay down in a darkened room, with no noise.
If I'm at work, I just try and do things at a slower calmer rate until I can leave.
I also take a couple of ALEVE, they work well with me.
