Small little vintage place called Al's Breakfast in Minneapolis has great cakes!

413 14th Ave SE
Minneapolis, MN 55414

It's tiny - 14 seats total. And it doesn't look all that nice, but it's clean and has great pancakes! You can watch the cook while he works. They're open from 6 am to 1 pm Monday through Saturday and 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday.

Please give best answer to MEL---right on the money! But here's a link to back up why this place is a MUST VISIT!

The link is to the whole article, and worth reading if you are thinking about stopping by so you know the rules of the place. It's no place for a piker!

Customers who visit the tiny space experience something that is not duplicated anywhere else in Minneapolis. Guests must first stand in line along the building's back wall as they wait for others to finish their meals. Frequent customers can purchase "meal books" and pre-pay for their food. Hundreds of such books line the opposite wall, where two griddles are also situated...

And less you think this place is a dive...In 2004, Al's Breakfast won a James Beard Foundation award in the "America's Classics Restaurants" category.

Happy eating!
