I want to understand the meaning of gorges, Hamersley range.

a gorge is like a cliff but not. think of Emporers new groove, when kusco and the patcha fall (all the bats and scorpions) thats a gorge....the other one, dunno

The gorges are the deeply cut sides of a river valley. Steep and on two sides of the river. The Grand Canyon in America is a gorge. In your case the word 'red' may describe the color of the rock that the gorge is cut out of.

The Hamersley Range is the name of a group of mountains (dunno where). The Andes is a range of mountains, so is the Appalachains in the east side of the US.

Your sentence could read: "Many tourists go to the red gorges in the Hamersly mountain range because the sides of the valley are so unusual."
