I use one with my car stereo system. It's a cord with a stereo headphone jack at both ends. Plug one end into the hole where the headphones go, and plug the other end into the auxilliary input of the boombox or other stereo system. Start with the volume output of the iPod set to "low" and gradually increase it until you achieve a good balance between the output volume and the volume setting on the stereo system.

You can also buy any one of several boombox systems designed to allow you so insert your iPod directly into a slot on the boombox which allows you to play the iPod through the box speakers.
