God created it that way.

Actually, the world is not a perfect circle. I read somewhere that the world is a bit "flattened" at each pole. If you mean why is the world round (as opposed to flat), I guess to keep us from driving off the side - but who knows?

All I'm sure of is the world is the shape God wanted it to be.

This is the 3rd time I have answered this question....the earth is not round , it is somewhat elliptical , about 85 mile difference between the circumference of the polar equator and the tropical equator. therefore making the earth somewhat of an oval due to centrifugal force. At the poles, the Earth hardly spins at all, but as you travel towards the equator, the rotational speed picks up. This makes sense -- as the circumference of a circle increases, a single point along it has to travel faster to complete a revolution in the same amount of time.

The rotational speed of the Earth at the equator is about 1,038 miles per hour. The atmosphere at the equator is also slightly thicker due to rotation, and you weigh slightly less. At mid-latitudes, the speed of the Earth's rotation decreases to 700 to 900 miles per hour.
Hope this answers your query!

when the earth was formed, hot n new, it was semi-solid, and rotating about its axis.
note that everything in this universe tries to minimize its energy.so, the semi-solid earth did the same. it slowly evolved into a spherical shape, as a sphere has the least surface area, hence the least energy, n hence the most stable. this is the reason why rain drops r spherical, the earth is round, or any celestial body is spherical.
the rotation of earth also exerted a centrifugal force at the equator, thus making it a bit more spherical...
hope u understand the reason.....

Because when the earth was formed, gravity pulled everything in as close as possible so everything was pulled as close to the middle as possible, thus it formed spherically. Find something circular and put your finger in the middle, now move it to any edge, the distance is the same to any point of the edge see? Hope that helps

Gravity is the law in this universe of matter, gravity pulls from every direction inwardly to form round bodies. It all starts with one rock.

It's round so that you have the chance to meet your other half even she/he is at the other corner.

when the sun explodes, it sends out particules everywhere.
the particule hit the earth while it's still spinning, and that is how earth is round just like the sun. does that answer your question?
i hope it does.
