I think that most people do this, whether they consciously acknowledge it or not. The "shell" may be your job, living situation, location, general depressed outlook, etc.

The most social person only meets some miniscule fraction of the humans currently on the planet, and, in general, people love routine and are incredibly reluctant to meet new people, whether this is an active choice or the byproduct of doing the same things with the same people day after day. I think that we all give valuable time to people that we'd rather not.

So my answer is yes, that is my tendency and I have to actively strive to change it.

Nope, I'm living in my shell, working on my own stuff. I figure eventually we'll just bump our shells into each other. If not, I've got all my own stuff going on.
