Not much you can do, once they bail like that they don't start working again on their own. Take it to an Apple Computer repair shop for evaluation & repair. My iPod is in a shop right now waiting for just such an evaluation, I'm expecting a call sometime next week to let me know what the damage is.

First go to http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ and look in the middle of the page. Look under troubleshooting, apple articles, and user discussion.

If there is an apple store around, take it there and see if there is an iPod genius around that can check it out (however, the holidays may not be a good time)

Toggle the hold switch on and then back off. Then hold the menu and center buttons down until the Apple logo comes on the screen. That should do it. If not, then I'm sorry. Contact Apple support
