As of June 2006, the classic DS has no longer been produced or shipped to stores. Only DS Lites are in production now, I'm afraid. So you'd have to be incredibly lucky to find a new ordinary DS.

I don't understand why you would want an outdated version of a DS. Not old enough to be retro, too old to be cool. I have a DS lite, and it's MUCH better than the old DS. Better placement of the microphone makes the games easier, smaller, brighter. Nicer all around. But, it you really want an older one, just keep trying eBay or Amazon, maybe online toy stores too.

I don't think so, there all used. You can get a refurbished one at Gamestop or EB Games, or ebay, etc. I was looking at DS Lites yesterday and thought the same thing. The DS Lite is actually better than the original DS. It's a worthy upgrade. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ds_lite

Wikipedia talks about some of the changes it made from the original one if you don't know them.

I bought a blue Nintendo DS on Saturday which was the last one in Best Buy. They're available, you just have to look really hard.

I have one of the original, but I got it two months after it came out and at first I was a lil skeptical about the lite but just think of it as an upgrade
