I think the secret to a great relationship is communication, constant prayer and keeping GOD in your lives to shield and protect what you have.....Being able to feel comfortable with someone when you need to talk about things to get them resolved & being with someone who has a willingness to keep what you have to achieve a comon goal and conquer all obstacles.

My uncle told me two things will ruin a marriage. It is either a problem with 1. Money or 2. Sex. So I'd say the lack of one or the other, or both, causes a bad relationship.

However, being able to be honest with each other, trusting yourself as well as your partner. Loving unconditionally, accepting that you aren’t perfect, and that your partner might always expect you to be. Admitting when your are wrong, and actually learning from your mistake. Arguing gets you no where, take a time out, come back cool and collected and sit down and discuss what each wants out of the argument, and compromise. Without being your partners best friend, and be willing to compromise, you will always be finding flaws or little things will irritate you. I tried all these steps, and still wonder where my 6-year relationship went to... Sometimes it is just life, your paths lead you down different roads, and at some point you have to look back and say goodbye and start a new.

I often wonder why people want to date others with the same interests. Sounds boring to me... if you dont, it opens one's life up to a whole new world.

Talk about everything, constantly show empathy, ask rather than assume, and negotiate, negotiate, and renegotiate. Be honest and always consider how a decision would affect your partner. Honor each other and actively seek to fulfill them. Never look outside the relationship for a solution, and maintain loyalty with relationship secrets.

I truly think that honesty is one of the most important thing to have with your partner! The way I look at it is that, I want a person that loves and respects me for who I am! I say it this way I want a man that will love me and treat me the way I treat him! I am very loving and caring and that's all I want back, is what I give!

The number one thing would be trust. If that is not there at all then there is no hope. If it has been there but, now lost, there is hope, you can bulid trust in a realationship. You also need honesty, love and patience. Good s.e.x. doesnt hurt either :):)

Knowing when just to shut up and walk away even if you know they are wrong and being a jerk.
Usually they will come to their senses and apologize.
But you dont want to be walked all over so make sure they arent always that way.
