I would like to get my cartilage pierced but don't want to "act" younger. I'm in my 40's and wouldn't want to embarrase my daughter..... am I too old?

I did talk with my daughter about this and she kinda thought it would look like I was trying to be young. She wasn't being nasty, just trying to be helpful.

hopefully one last quick note, its just that I really like the look and plain to do something simple like a diamond stud or small gold hoop. It does go along with my style.

As long as the earring you put there is tasteful, then I don't think your daughter would be embarrassed. I'm 32 and have one there, and my 12 year old son thinks it's cool. Just put a small diamond stud or a small gold hoop in it, and it will look really nice.

If you're really concerned, ask your daughter what she thinks. You might be surprised!

A nice small diamond stud at the top of the ear can look nice. I'm 26 and wear mine sometimes when I wear my diamond hoops.

I think it completely depends on the rest of your "look" does it go with your style? I have seen a few older women with this kind of peircing and along with the rest of their look and the type of earring they wore, it looked classy. Unfortunately most older women I see with this, it either looks liek they are trying to hard to fit in with the younger crowd or it looks like a tacky throwback to their younger days that they just cannot let go of. Either way, it does not flow and ends up looking tacky or "punkish"
If you want it b ecause you just like the way it looks and it goes with your natural style then go for it.
If you are thinking of making a drastic change in your style, consider why you want to before oyu actually do it, either way- your daughter will get over any petty embarrassment she might feel, no matter what we do, it seems, we are going to embarrass our kidso ne way or another - they will get over it (unless it is deliberate malicious embarrassing- I am not tlaking about that ) and chances are they will have kids one day and be in the same boat!

No, my mom is in her late 50's and wears earings and my grandmother used to also. Women are never to young or old to wear earings.

I have seen adults wear that type of piercing.
