I have experimented with this before... I've tickled my girlfriend while she was asleep and it seems as if the majority of the time, she does *not* react.

It really depends on the tickler and the ticklee.

Is the ticklee a heavy sleeper or a light sleeper?
Is the tickler tickling the ticklee lightly and gently or heavily?
Is the ticklee very ticklish overall?

I believe that most ticklish people will wake up when being tickled - some sooner than others.

Sensitive skin is natures way of letting us know if a bug is crawling on us or if we walk through spider webs. It is a natural defense. Our defenses even work while we sleep - not always as effective if we are heavy sleepers.

Personally, I love to be tickled awake bu a woman I care about.

Yes, I'm deathly ticklish and have been woken up many times dating back to childhood by someone tickling me...if anything, I seem more ticklish in the morning when I first wake up.

Yes. Several times I've had dreams about being tickled only to wake up screaming with laughter because someone actually is tickling me!
