I have no idea what a Dell Latitude D660 is made up of.
Actually, I'd decide what I can afford to spend and then I'd start shopping for a NEW computer. You never know how a PC has been treated, especially laptops!
If you are looking for a laptop for "general computing" there are a lot of good buys out there for very reasonable prices.
Not only that, but the person who is selling the Dell is going to "over-value" what he/she is trying to sell to you. So what it's worth to them, is usually way out of whack with the actual market for them.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I usually use ebay and Amazon.com as indicators of today's street value for computer parts and the like. The final auction price you see are typical mass market worth (give or take 10%, of course).
Is this the best way? No, but it will get you a number to start with based on the configuration of your computer. You would have to pay a professional to get the most accurate (that's debatable) number, and even they will tell you that they factor in ebay prices. But you have to pay them to get that info.

Best bet is to see if you can find it on ebay, the buy it now auctions are especially helpful for getting the value of an older pc. Heres a link http://search.ebay.com/Dell-Latitude-D600_W0QQfasiZ1QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQmaxrecordsreturnedZ300QQsascsZ2QQsbrbinZt.
You should just find the specs on the one you are buying and compare it to one of the ebay ones and that should be your price.

I would not pay very much for a computer going on three years old. $100 maybe. Too old and too many new ones out there for 300 to 400.
