Well because they treated the American people as one would treat a child. You tell it whatever you have to, to get it to do what you want.

When have you ever experienced that gang as being even remotely honest? I think this whole war in Iraq was reckless endangerment from the very start. They are not particulary mindful of history and the arrogance on the part of Bush and his Neocon pals led right into hubris.
I and many millions of others are having an " I told you so " moment. Not that I feel good about it.

Like Clinton lied when he said we'd be out of Yugoslavia "By Thanksgiving" (or whatever)? Uh, we're still there too, 10 years later.
The Americans aren't upset by staying in Iraq. The problem is that Americans have been led to believe that we are losing, and Americans don't do well if we're losing. In fact, many of the statements you point to were meant to keep Americans thinking that we were winning!!
BTW, we're still in Haiti too. And virtually every other country in the world, including most of the Middle East. The Romans would be envious.....

He said this because he did not listen to experts but instead listened to people like Chalabi, a person who wanted power. Had the administration listened to the generals in CENTCOM they would have known we would not be greeted as liberators, the would not have lasted 6 months to a year, the war would not cost $60 billion and it would be paid for by Iraqi oil, it would take more then 150,000 troops... This game will end when we bring the troops on the ground to testify and guarantee the soldiers who do speak will not face retaliation. If Bush is listening to the troops on the ground then why did he not allow them to testify in front of congress and this country?

Didn't you listen to the Presidents speech at the start of the war???? Evidently not. He warned Americans that it wouldn't be quick and it could and probably would take years to fight. He warned people several times it would be lengthy but evidently you only hear what you want to or are not at all well informed which you need to be!

We were.Bush said from the start that this would go on after he was gone. That that is forgotten or pushed to the back is sheer political crap.It was known from the start by all of congress that this was not a short term operation. Now they are simply pandering to the drivethru mentality that pervades our modern culture.

We were and still are greeted as liberators.
Are you aware that the US still has bases in Germany, Japan, South Korea, and other places?
Democracy, while I am skeptical of accomplishing it, is only part of the purpose of keeping troops in the ME.
